Indiserve is an initiative of Indicorps, a non-profit organization that primarily encourages people of Indian origin from around the world to actively participate in India's progress. Indiserve was created to help Indicorps meet public demand and more effectively provide information that inspires service and volunteerism.

The Indiserve platform was developed as a free service to enable non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in India to reach out to thousands of people around the world that are interested in investing their time, skills, and resources for India's development. The process is designed to passively help NGOs articulate their needs and publicize them to an interested audience.
Without effective channels to publicize and to find volunteer opportunities, the Indian development sector has lacked the infrastructure to tap the potential of civic participation and the involvement India's extremely talented diaspora. Indiserve is an attempt to inspire sustainable channels that allow organizations and potential contributors to connect.

Indicorps was founded in 2001. Indicorps' core fellowship program aims to build global leadership that has a grassroots understanding of India and India's development. Indicorps offers one- and two-year public service fellowships for people of Indian origin to work on development projects in India. Indicorps' development-based programs provide opportunities for Indians to serve India by applying their skills, time, and resources towards sustainable strategies for change. As part of its operational philosopy, Indicorps works with local community-based organizations throughout the country to develop sustainable and innovative fellowship projects addressing some of India's toughest challenges.
Indicorps' programs are designed to build principled leadership, empower visionaries, inspire collective action, and unite India by engaging Indians around the world around a common vision for India's development.
